Speaker: Dr Helen Parker, Senior Postdoctoral Research Associate, The University of Manchester

Title: Meningeal inflammation mediates neuro-behavioural alterations in MPSIIIA via IL-17.

Abstract: Helen ParkerĀ is a senior research associate in the Lydia Becker institute at the University of Manchester interested in understanding the pathogenesis of neurological conditions, in particular rare neuronopathic lysosomal disorders. She completed her PhD with Prof Brian Bigger, focusing on identifying the role IL-1 plays in driving cognitive decline in MPSIIIA. She has created a research niche combining rare diseases and understanding the CNS immune response, from basic science through to pre-clinical testing of immune therapeutics and clinical assessment of immunological biomarkers. Her talk will highlight how meningeal inflammation, in particular IL-17 can act as a driver of neuro-behavioural alterations in MPSIIIA models and patients.
