Title: What can high resolution CryoEM do and what can it do for you?
Background: Rich has worked in Cryo-EM for over 30 years. The first 10 years of his career was as a Researcher and Lecturer at UMIST and since 2005 he has had a variety of roles in EM and Cryo-EM across the MIB and FBMH and was on a partial secondment to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation between 2015-2019 to work on solving the structure of the disease causing CFTR protein. Rich is currently the Head of EM Platform in FBMH and the PI for a BAG facilitating access to the National electron image centre in Harwell Oxford. Cryo-EM has enjoyed a golden era since 2015 when improvements in technology, cameras and software all came into alignment an prompted a ‘resolution revolution’. In this talk, Rich will talk about what drove these improvements and how the modern Cryo-EM pipeline can address important research questions  informing a variety of disease states from a structural perspective.
