Title: RCC1 neuropathy: Expanding the phenotype and using iPSC-derived motor neurons to model disease.
Abstract: Rob Harkness is a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Manchester interested in modelling rare genetic conditions to understand disease mechanisms. He completed his PhD with Bill Newman, focusing on identifying novel disease mechanisms in patients with complex rare genetic conditions. His postdoctoral research focuses on characterising the molecular mechanisms underpinning RCC1 neuropathy, a rare acute axonal neuropathy which is triggered by febrile infection. He is developing iPSC-derived motor neurons to better study the triggers and mechanisms of axonal degeneration in RCC1 neuropathy.
