Clinical & Diagnostics Theme

People with rare conditions often have multi-system issues and coordination of their care is a significant challenge.  Manchester benefits from being home to many large multi-specialty hospital Trusts in the North of England, including the Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT), the Northern Care Alliance and the Christie NHS Foundation Trust. Here, we can offer clinical services that span the entire life course, from foetal health to adulthood. MFT is commissioned to deliver a range of highly specialised medical services, is a leading provider of advanced therapies and a centre of excellence in genomic medicine for rare and inherited conditions. With these credentials and long-standing partnerships with other NHS Trusts and academic institutions, in the north-west region and beyond, Manchester is a hub for clinical and diagnostic services, for those with rare conditions.

In line with the UK Rare Disease Framework and priorities of our partners, we have aligned our strategy and identified the following three Clinical & Diagnostics focus areas: (1) Development of new RCs clinical services in Manchester; (2) Establish a Manchester RCs clinical services excellence network; (3) Support development of new diagnostic services for RCs in the North West.
